Capstone Project - Sustainabull (2025)
Sustainabull is a capstone project created by five fourth-year students from Carleton University’s Bachelor of Media Production & Design program. It includes a documentary and a social media campaign that expose the bull**** behind greenwashing—how companies use deceptive marketing to appear environmentally conscious while continuing harmful practices. Through clear storytelling and real-world examples, we call out these tactics, reveal their consequences, and empower audiences to challenge corporate claims and demand real change. A second documentary is currently in development to further explore the role of policy, digital activism, and accountability.
Documentary 1 - An Introduction to Greenwashing
This short documentary explores the reality behind greenwashing—how companies use marketing to appear eco-friendly while avoiding real change. Using clear visuals, interviews, and straightforward storytelling, it helps viewers understand how to spot misleading claims and think more critically about sustainability in advertising. I contributed to scripting, editing, and directing.
Documentary 2 Teaser
This teaser sets the tone for the second installment of Sustainabull with a sharp parody of greenwashing ads often used by the oil industry. Shifting focus to how the oil industry shapes public narratives to downplay its environmental impact. It also examines the role of governments in enabling and protecting these narratives. With a more serious tone and critical lens, this teaser sets the stage for a deeper investigation into systemic greenwashing, institutional complicity, and the barriers to meaningful climate action.
Short Form Videos
As part of the Sustainabull campaign, a series of short-form videos were created to deliver compact, accessible information about greenwashing and environmental misinformation. Designed for Instagram, these videos break down complex topics into engaging, easy-to-understand segments.
